DeSoto Inlet

Desoto Inlet is on the southern side of the south point, about 80m long and 10m wide. It gets its name from an Old Desoto motor vehicle driven off the cliff into the inlet. A shallow dive (6 – 16m,) consisting of overhangs, large rocks, kelp, yellowtail, silver sweep seapike, with possible flathead, Port Jackson sharks and small ray.


Dive Newcastle is located less than 100m from Swansea Bridge therefore its literally on the doorstep of one of NSW’s best shore dives if not eastern seaboard.

Several bridge structures demolished over the decades have created a significant and important artificial reef which has attracted an abundance of marine life

Swansea Channel is an exciting alternative and can be planned prior to a high water slack making the location a popular destination for a double shore dives.
